Goal reached!

We’ve reached our goal! Thanks to 115 backers both on and off Kickstarter, the campaign to record our first album is fully funded, with a little extra on top. We are grateful to each backer for their invaluable affirmation of not only our recording, but the wonderful new music it will showcase by Michael Weinstein-Reiman, Sarah Beth May, Naftali Schindler, Russell Nadel, and Aaron N. Price.

During the next several months, we will be hitting the recording studio with Mateusz Zechowski of Studio Teo, hiring a real graphic designer, and getting new duo photos, among the many other tasks required to make our album a reality. We have recording dates lined up in New Haven at our favorite performance venue, Christ Presbyterian Church, in mid-January and mid-February, for about 60 total minutes of music–most of it brand-new and never before recorded. We are shooting for a June 2013 release.

Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this new adventure!

Two days left!

Our Kickstarter campaign to fund our first album is in its final two days! It has been monumentally exciting to watch the number of our backers grow, during even just these past 24 hours. Thank you to our now 97 backers, who have pledged a total of $8,680 toward our $9000 goal. It is really looking like we will have a recording now! Only $330 left to go before Saturday at 8am.

All our backers get access to inside information, and anyone at level $10 or more receives free pre-release digital tracks from our recording. Many backers will also be receiving special signed copies of our CD before its official public release next summer, and two lucky backers will be naming the song of their choice for us to arrange, record and dedicate especially to them. (We can’t wait to see what they choose…!)

Post-Thanksgiving update

As of Thursday (Thanksgiving) evening, we had 67 backers and $6,766 pledged toward our funding goal of $9000. We are 76% of the way to making our first recording a real possibility! Thank you to our many backers for championing our recording of new works by composers Russell Nadel, S. Beth May, Naftali Schindler, and Michael Weinstein-Reiman.

And check it out: we are being featured on the Arts Council of Greater New Haven’s website this week! We’re so thankful for new friends like these who are giving our project added visibility!

Over halfway through

Yesterday was Day 16 of our 30-day Kickstarter campaign to fund our first recording. We now have exactly 13 days left to meet our funding goal of $9000, with only $3850 left to raise.

To celebrate the overwhelming support so many have shown us, and make our fans really crave our upcoming recording, we made a Youtube video. We hope you enjoy the short musical selection in our video! It’s from Robert Schumann’s song cycle, Dichterliebe, which we arranged for harp and horn.

Please share our video with your friends and colleagues. Facebook, Twitter, and forwarding this email are all great ways to spread the word. And if you have not yet joined our project as a backer, you can read more and and pledge directly through our Kickstarter page.

First week

It has been thrilling to see how many of our fans are joining us in making our first recording project. Our backer numbers increase visibly each day! Because we are running an all-or-nothing campaign, our project’s main risk is that it won’t be possible if it isn’t funded in full by Dec. 1. Thanks to several generous (and early) donors, though, we are well on track to meeting our goal, and with a wonderfully exciting start last week. Here are some illuminating numbers:

  •     Within two hours of our campaign’s beginning on Nov. 1, backers had donated a total of over $2000 dollars!
  •     As of today, Nov. 7, we have 18 backers, who will be receiving free tracks, CDs, posters, and written recognition as friends and sponsors. One of our project’s friends even gets to name a piece for us to arrange and play.
  •     We have raised $3146 toward our goal of $9000 by Dec. 1. That’s 35% of our project funding (accomplished in 23% of our 30-day duration).
